FOSSEA - Characterization and reconditioning of the nuclear waste

In the framework of a program for the retrieval of historical waste ECA has been awarded by AREVA TA a contract to supply a tight hot cell for the characterization and where appropriate the reconditioning of the nuclear waste packages.
This unit equipped with remote controlled handling and measure means, allows the operator to carry out the following process:

• decontamination and measure of the contamination by rubbing.


• gamma spectroscopy and neutron measurement.


• reconditionning by encasing the waste package in an outer container.
